Hi my name is Jo and I'm 1 1/2 of the cake place. My business partner is my mam.
I was over the moon when Louisa of Blossom Sugar Art asked if I would like to feature as a featured cake artist in the monthy blog. So here goes my first blog!
I started cake making way back in 2008 helping mam out after my baby was born. My mam started in the olden days 😂😏 1986.
Well in the last few years alone things have massively changed in the cake making industry and all these incredible new products came out that we could only dream of.
My first Blossom Sugar Art cutter was the hydrangea set, basically it looked pretty in its pink packaging and I thought I'd treat myself to a new cutter.
Wow I mean it was a revelation! Cut and press! Cut and press that's it and I made these amazing little flowers... Well I had to have every single one didn't I 😂
Jo's Top Tips
Go into business with your mam she does all the washing up 😅
Use lustre dust to dust your moulds before pressing your flower, not only will this prevent sticking but you don't have to dust it after and the colour gets right into the veins ❤️
Buy proper products from specialist sellers, otherwise you buy cheap buy twice
This pretty flamingo has the flowers made using the Fleur mould as feathers!! You get a real sense of fun and creativity by looking at Jo's fabulous cakes.
Here Jo has used the English Rose mould to frame the beautiful name plate.
